Solid opener: Movie stars you’d like to fuck, alive or dead.
Great game. I’ll go first.
Paul Mescal
Paul Walker (RIP)
Paul RuddKidding! I do have some non-Paul candidates…Robert De Niro circa 1965
Chace Crawford now, ‘cos we all watched last month’s Call Her Daddy ep, right?
Michael B Jordan
I’m expecting solid hit-it-lists in response. Please and thank you.
Speaking of fucking, I spy Harvey Specter. (See! I have watched some TV!) A known womanizer. Who just so happens to have done his time as a modelizer in SATC. That is, “a particular breed who will sleep with just about anything in a skirt”.
Barkley is the budding artist who’s converted his oh-so-Manhatten loft into part studio, part…sex film? Plonking Carrie down in front of a haphazard array of rear-projection televisions with his sexual escapades on loop. The whole nonconsensual footage element would not fly now (and should not have then). But it really is a big fat ode to the consumerism catchphrase of the 90s: Sex Sells.
We NEED to talk about Carrie’s fur coat.
As far as I can tell this is a recurring character in SATC. And for very good reason.
I wanna know why we’ve all decided to don the same sandy trench or black coat with a waist belt or choc leather bomber. And I’m on no high horse here. This boxy jacket from Blanca has been on very high rotation in my wardrobe since I tripped and fell and added it to cart only a month ago. Then there’s the Friends With Frank floor length coat I purchased just yesterday. But in my defence I had been searching for this winter staple for months. And it’s 100% wool! And it’s 35% off! Would have been criminal not to.
Recent spending aside, this is me making a case to bring back statement fur. (Faux. Obviously.) A true centrepiece. A little something-something around the cuffs or collar will do!
Take Vogue US for example, reiterating here the quiet luxury of a fur coat with this trend piece back in March. Granted we Aussies aren’t subject to the same winter-y temps as our neighbours in the Northern Hemisphere…I just don’t feel like I’ve seen fur really ooze its way into our wardrobes this season. Or seasons of late.
Special mention to one of the most colourful, chaotic, carefree creators in my feed @etherealelsa.
The dusty blue cropped fur coat in this video immediately sprang to mind while I was word-vomiting the above. More of this! Maximalism! Me included!

So Skipper. The nerdy looking stringbean snapped with Carrie above. Major kudos for dishing out what might just be one of the best possible compliments. IMO.
“I think you’re luminous.”
Is he referring to her energy? Her confidence? Her outfit? Her smile? Who cares! Wrap it up in a gentle, earnest term like luminous and I’m taking you home too.
I’ve got a bone to pick with Mr Big. Using the adjective ‘cute’ to describe Carrie’s column.
For the uneducated - sure. But as someone who has spent hours crafting the perfect tagline for a product that is as punchy as it is informative as it is digestible as it is ‘correct’ (A LOT of regulatory guidelines in skincare, let me tell you). Or picked apart an article for hours on end so that you, my hopeful reader, sit back and think how effortless and enjoyable that content was to read. Cute hurts.
Copywriting is damn considered. Tell me I’m cute. Tell me my work is exceptional, original, first-class, as witty and wry as the women behind Reformation. That is: The benchmark.
A second special mention, this time for my Mr Big, Joe, for gassing me (and my work) up regularly. Find yourself a boy who surveys quantities for a living and they’ll forever be in awe of your creativity.
OOTE
Outfit Of The Episode, for any newbies here.
Carrie’s LBD for the runway and afterparty with the open, wrapped necklace (neck chain?). A very classic ensemble, perfectly paired with rose-y blush, subtle lip tint, and bouncy curls. No notes.
